Antonio Vetrò is Assistant Professor at the Department of Control and Computer Engineering of Politecnico di Torino. He coordinates research programs at the Nexa Center for Internet and Society. He is also senior research fellow at the Future Urban Legacy Lab and at the Italian Institute for Advanced Studies in Torino “Umberto Eco” Scienza Nuova, serving in the scientific board of both institutes. Antonio conducts interdisciplinary studies on the relationship between digital technologies and society: he is currently studying how to detect and mitigate discriminations of automated decision systems. He has a long experience in empirically evaluating methods for software and data quality improvement.

He is member of the international committee ISO/IEC JTC1 SC7/WG6 Software and System Engineering - Software Product and System Quality and of the Italian Software Engineering Committee at UNINFO (delegated at ISO for standardisation in information technologies). He serves in the editorial board of the International Journal of Technoethics (IJT) and of MDPI Information.

Antonio has been Director of Research at the Nexa Center for Internet and Society at Politecnico di Torino (Italy) from November 2015 to August 2017 and Research Programs Manager at ORS from September 2017 to January 2018. Further in the past, he has been post-doctoral research fellow in the Software and System Engineering Department at the Technische Universität München (Germany) and junior scientist at the Fraunhofer Center for Experimental Software Engineering (MD, USA).

He holds a PhD in Information and System Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (Italy), obtained working at the Software Engineering Research Group (Softeng, at the Department of Control and Computer Engineering) with a doctoral thesis on the empirical assessment of the impact of static code analysis on software quality.
