Polyglot Persistence in PIM - Event Sourcing with CouchDB and Neo4j
Seminar Polyglot Persistence in PIM - Event Sourcing with CouchDB and Neo4j.
First date of the series of seminars organized by the Data Management and Visualization course of the Master’s Degree in Data Science and Engineering, with participation of guest lectures featuring industrial experts from Coolshop, Data Reply, and Storm Reply.
These sessions are meant to offer a technical deep dive into modern data architectures for Generative AI, such as Polyglot Persistence, Event Sourcing, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) using NoSQL technologies.
PhD students, researchers, and practitioners interested in these topics are welcome to attend.
When: Monday 1 December 2025 at 2,30 pm
Where: Aula 2P, Politecnico di Torino
Abstract: This seminar analyzes the architectural evolution of a Product Information Management (PIM) system designed for dynamic product structures. The engineering team will demonstrate a Polyglot Persistence approach using:
- CouchDB as an Event Store to support Event Sourcing, ensuring auditability and robust conflict management.
- Neo4j to optimize graph analysis and traverse complex catalog relationships.
The talk will also cover the challenges of maintaining NoSQL in production, including schema evolution and backup strategies in the absence of standard relational tooling.
