Trustworthy AI Agents for Human-Centered Social Impact

PhD-level course (17 hours) titled Trustworthy AI Agents for Human-Centered Social Impact, organized as a part of the PhD course in Computer and Control Engineering.
The course combines lectures, hands-on activities, and critical discussion of ethical and regulatory trade-offs on trustworthy, human-centered AI systems, covering social robots, healthcare chatbots, political ad transparency, and misinformation on messaging apps.

Where: Lab 8 (2nd floor) of the Department of Control and Computer Engineering
When: May 6-June 5. Lectures: Wednesdays 2,00 pm–6,00 pm. Final test: Friday.

(University College London): human-centered interaction design; AI and robotic systems.
Fabricio Benevenuto de Souza (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais): transparency, auditing, and misinformation at scale.

Program (sessions):
May 6: Human–Robot Interaction: what role should social robots play in society?
May 13: AI chatbots in healthcare and everyday life: advances, benefits, societal concerns.
May 20: Political ad transparency in platforms and elections: advances, limits, auditing/enforcement.
May 27: Messaging apps in politics/everyday life: misinformation, privacy, public safety; design & regulatory options.
June 5 (3,00 pm–4,00 pm): Final test by Daniele Quercia.
