Towards European Digital Sovereignty: the DARE project kicks off
Europe is focusing on innovation to make progress towards achieving complete technological sovereignty. It is launching the first phase of the Digital Autonomy with RISC-V in Europe - Special Grant Agreement 1 (DARE SGA1).
Drawing on expertise from across the continent, the aim is to develop next-generation processors and computing systems, and to create a hardware and software ecosystem for research and industrial applications.
This is an ambitious initiative: 38 partners – led by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) – will collaborate over the next three years to advance the project, funded with a budget of 240 million euros by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, the European Union's program for building a world-class supercomputing ecosystem on the continent.
Among the project partners is the Politecnico di Torino, which will involve the CAD Research Group - Electronic CAD & Reliability Group, coordinated by Prof. Matteo Sonza Reorda from DAUIN.
Thanks to the work of the research group led by Professor Sonza Reorda, the Polytechnic will develop methods and tools to identify faulty circuits and reduce their impact, ensuring excellent computing reliability.
